Travelling from DB to GSIS
Our 5 years old and 3 years old will be starting at GSIS This September. We have been looking to rent a place nearby but after many viewings, we find Discovery Bay to be the ideal place for us to live. However, we are concerned about the travel time from DB to GSIS, partciculary as GSIS has a very early start and our kids are quite young.
Is there anyone who travels from DB to GSIS everyday? How do you find the travel and early start? Thanks

I don't live in DB, so you would get a better view from someone who does, however, having done the trip from DB to the Peak many times, I think your children being so young will find the travel hard, let alone the very early start. If you are the one to accompany them, I think you will tire of the journey very soon. You may also want to take into consideration what the delay will be if you miss your ferry and how much hanging around you will have when the children finish school at the ferry pier. You may want to take into account how difficult it will be to arrange after school activities as they get older and how easy will it be to arrange play dates. Lots to consider - but in my view far to long a distance for little ones. Good luck with all though

The GSIS bus picks up at the DB ferry pier on the Island side at 7:00 am. The information is on the GSIS website.

Hi, there are lots of children who travel to the island from DB everyday....there aren't enough sch places for all DB children and so for many the daily commute is the only option.
Children do the journey from as young as three....in fact I plan for my son to do it. It's not ideal but it is doable.
The majority of international schs have buses that pick the children up from the DB ferry pier, island side.
The DB ferries are very frequent...in the early morning they run every 7-10 mins, and in the afternoon every 20 mins or so, so missing a ferry is not really an option, or a problem.

Nadim & Cecilia,
I think traveling from DB to GSIS is quite a long trip, especially for 3 and 5 year old. It would be very hard for children their age.
BTW, I've sent you a private message. Please check.

Thank you for all your comment. We've kind of decided against DB as it is quite a long travel. We are now looking at Sai Kung as we can drive from there, unlike DB.
