    recommended playgroups

    hi
my wife and i have a mixed race little girl she's just 13 months and is an only child. we're looking for playgroups so she can start to socialise and have fun with more kids. my wife took her to BabyBuddies in Tin Hau but wasn't over-impressed. we've also signed up for JWT in central but as we live in North Point it's a bit of a trek. can anyone recommend any other playgroups in the eastern district.
    many thanks

    Hey, Welshdad,
we are in Tin Hau as well. My daughter been to Baby Buddies. But we pull her out from the class after 2.5 months, because she continously getting flu virus from the other kids or parent @ the class.
We took the 2 kindermusik classes from "Art plus" on last summer, parent and the baby do singing and dance, quite interesting. Now we also put our daugther on their weekly playgroup.
Art plus is located at Tin Hau Temple Road, right at the corner of staircase lead to King's Road. We like there cause they have sort of open-air playground, very small, but at least the cleaning lady keep the hygeine well. Friendly, cozy place. The most important is near by our place.
ps. I saw Montessori set up their new branch/campus at the oppostie of Art plus, you may also check that out.

    Hi Yan,

Could you elaborate more about the Montessori set up opposite to the ArtPlus, do you mean there will have a new playgroup running in Montessori approach, what's the name? and could you let me know the name of the street? Thank you.

Well u can start your own playgroup and meet at each other houses or at Victoria park, Central Library. We started our son with an informal play group first and then formal playgroups. We found that kids mingle more with each other in informal playgroups than in formal playgroups.

We were also part of Tin Hau Baby Buddies and now switched to Baby Buddies in Sheung Wan, our son absolutely loves it. Allison and Sven are great with kids.

    Welsdad,
I just saw there is the branner hanging opposite side of the Art plus location, and saw there is new renovation site @ that G/F of that building. I assume there is the Montessori there.
What exactly is a playgroup or just summer course for toddler, I am not sure. You might need to check out from their web, or visit in person.
Frankly, i am not sure what exectly of Montessori, but definitly it is very populare from HK parent. Again, you can check out their web for more detail.

Art plus is right at Tin Hau Temple Road, I don't have exact address on hand now, here are the number you can call: 2807-0208. I am a working mom, so only my Philipino maid bring my daughter to there, still fine for me.

And also, you can go to the Central Library, 3/F Toys library. They do have soft padding corner, where suitable for younger age. But you need to make reseveration in advance, not difficult. My maid bring my kid there, almost 3 times a week., to get more socialize. And this is free of charge.

try to visit there first, Welshdad. You won't miss the place, cause they have huge fibre glass made Teddy bear right at the front of their entrance, my daughter love the Teddy bear.
call them have a trial class first, see what they offer on Sat. course, or try their weekly daytime playgroup. But you need to call them quick, cause I know they are only limit on around 8-10 kids per class for daytime playgroup.
