    Ultrasound and Sex of Baby

Does anyone know that if you do your 18-20 week ultrasound in Hong Kong if they will tell you the sex of the baby? Also, if you are not covered, How much is this ultrasound?

Yes, they will. Even at the public hospital. I had a 20 week scan done at Tsan Yuk for about ummm $60 or something like that... (it's more if you want to keep the pictures) - and they were really thorough and told me the sex of the baby.

I had some private scans done as well - but they tend to be more expensive, more like $1200 or something. You CAN get cheaper than that though...

    hi

i m very sure u can. u can even hv a 4D scan, this scan can even detect if there is anything wrong with e baby. it would cost about $1600 in TST but its very detailed & u get 2 keep all e reports, picture and even a DVD with the active scan in it.

Just be aware that ultrasound scans are not always 100% correct on the sex issue.
I think it is more likely to call a boy a girl because it never had the best angle, but I know of cases each way.

I understand that the 20 week scan gives you between a 95-99% chance of accuracy for sex prediction, so it is like all tests imperfect but a giant leap over not knowing.
With regards to the 4D ultrasound, I found the images produced a little bit eerie but that is a personal opinion. The usual 2D scan is the medically recommended scan for detecting foetal abnormalities at present not the more expensive and fancier 4D (although some radiology places are trying to promote it)
