Advice needed on speech therapy
Hi everyone
My 4 years old has a speech delay. She's bilingual french- english, but her difficulties have little to do with the bilingualism.
Since the diagnose, I've been trying to find the best solution for her treatment...
I discovered therefore that she could have speech therapy in french here in HK.
My dilemma is now the following: is it better to have her followed in english ( school language) or in french ( mother tongue) ??
Has anyone of you been in the same situation, and what has been your choice?
Thanks for your input.

I'm a speech therapist so may be able to help.
Could you tell me a little bit more about the areas where she is delayed? You said it was a speech delay - but I need to know whether you really mean speech sounds (ie does she say the wrong sounds eg saying 'tat' instead of 'cat') or is it a language problem where she isn't saying as many words or sentences as she should be?
If you want to tell me any other factors then you are welcome to do so here or PM me!

I was wondering at what age one should start to worry if their child is not speaking. my daughter understands when spoken to and uses lots of gesturing to get her message across, she babbles alot and sometimes says random words but is not consistent...she's 24mths now...what do you think? is it something i should be concerned about? i have a kind of laissez faire attitude about it now since she's been delayed with other things too....
