Gain Kid's Confidence

I would like to ask is there any courses or any methods that will help to gain kids confidence?

As my son is rather shy and would hide behind me when he see strangers.bwinky:bwinky

How old is he? Is his shyness extreme? Is he socialised with other kids his own age?
Don't know of any specific courses. I'm sure methods exist for extreme cases, but I know of any personally.

how old makes a difference. does he only hide when encoutering adult strangers, but like similar aged children? Highgate House (a waldorf school), is quite well known amongst primary schools, for bringing out confidence in small children. it's at the peak & they have a website.
