I'm seeing him at the moment and whilst he seems to be very experienced and has a good bedside manner I have to say I have one big problem with his complete lack of respect for other people's time. His appointments never, ever run on time. You always have to wait at least an hour and often they call at the last minute to say don't come in, come in etc. I've had 2 other children with different obs' and have never had to put up with this before. It drives my husband crazy as he comes to all my appointments and it's not exactly fun for him to wait more than an hour for a 5 minute appointment when he should be at work.
Apart from that however if you do a search on this board you will see lots and lots of compliments for him and I do feel comfortable that he will look after me when it counts. If he could just get his diary to work he'd be perfect!

I also use him and think he is great. He is very caring and takes the time to talk to me when I have questions and concerns. I liked that when I had some issues with the pregnancy he told me all of my options and the pros and cons with each of them. I am not using him for delivery because I am going to Queen Mary and he has not had a problem with this.
As Aussiegal said he is terrible for keeping appointment times which can be a problem when you are taking time off work etc. but the nurses and receptionists have been good about calling me and letting me know he is running late and that they will call me a 1/2 hour before he is ready to see me. Although this is frustrating I have decided to put up with it because I really like him and trust him.

Dr. Gosh won't see you for one time only!
I just called Dr. Gosh's office today to schedule a 20-week scan since I heard that he has good ultrasound equipment (and that the doctors at the public hospital may not be competent enough, and miss something). The assistant asked me a lot of questions as to where I plan to give birth? will I continue to see him till birth etc? and then finally said that I would be better taken care of at the public hospital?? This is exactly what she said.. I guess we are all spending our money for these private doctors for nothing.. So he does not want to see you one time only.

I can understand your frustration but I can also see the doctor's point of view. Lots of doctors are so busy these days that they can only fit in their regular patients and not one off consultations. Similarly, a number of the "big name" OBs are not taking on patients who plan to deliver in a public hospital.
In terms of scans, I went to see Dr Lam at HK Diagnostics for my 12 and 20 week scans (even though I was seeing another OBs) as he has great scanning equipment. You could try him to see if he will still do one off scan appointments.

I don't know about dr ghosh, but I would like to clear your misunderstanding that doctors at public hospitals are not competent. They are far more competent than private doctors, look at the range of patients they deal with everyday, and if at the the time of delivery or after delivery some complications arise, the first thing private hospitals do is to move the patient to a public hospital. So don't worry while being at a public hospital, you might have a long waiting time, but be assured that you are in good hands.
Good luck.

Dr. Ghosh used to be one of those that saw patients who delivered public but I guess not anymore, just like a number of popular doctors. Not to worry, there are other good doctors who will see you although you don't deliver with them and I agree with shweta that the public doctors are very competent with scanning.
