window safety
hi friends
we have normal Hong Kong windows but no bars in front of them.
My children are beginning to explore the house and I'm really worried about the windows.
I don't want the bars but I've seen some metal string / look that prevents the window from open more than 10 cm.
Does anybody knows who can install this devices?
thanks a million
Kerstin

do you have a management office you can ask? if not, Sante Fe Relocators have handymen who can come in and do whatever you want. They are paid per hour, so perhaps call first and ask.

We had wires installed on the windows so that they only open a couple of inches - a locksmith did this for us. The wires can be removed if you need to clean the outside of the windows, but is a bit fiddly.
If you are renting, do check with your landlord first. One of ours was very reluctant for us to be doing any drilling in the window frames, but relented in the end when I explained that there would only be tiny holes and nothing visible from the inside of the apartment (only when the window was open). Our next was perfectly OK but appreciated us checking first.
