Family friendly places to live in Tai Po for under 18K?

Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions for places to live in Tai Po for under 18K that are suitable for a family with 2 young children- we're planning to move there in the summer. We'll be considering both apartments and village houses.
    Cheers!

I would suggest checking out Grand Palisades in Tai Po. It is an estate located on a hill overlooking Tai Po and has beautiful grounds. There are nine blocks of flats, each 10 stories high. The flats range from small 2 bedroom flats to larger 1200+ square foot flats. We recently inquired about a 946 square foot flat with 3 bedrooms and the cost was $13500.00 (negotiable).

It has a shuttle bus to Tai Po Market MTR Station, 24 hour security, very large outdoor swimming pool and nice clubhouse facilities, including a gym and children's play room (not a lot of things to play with inside, though). Tai Po Kau Nature Reserve is about a 45 minute walk away, if hiking is something you enjoy doing.

We have lived here for 3 years and have met many other families. We find it quiet and convenient.

Good luck with your apartment search!

You will have no problem finding places for under $18k. We just shifted from Tai Po last week after living there for 3 years. We lived in Forest Hill where I believe you can get apartment over 1500 for under your budget. Classical Gardens is also worth checking out - several different playrooms and pools to choose from as well as a shuttle bus that goes to the train station every 5 minutes or so. There are also the estates (such as Consellation Cove) along the ridge overlooking the highway and the harbour in south Tai Po. Plenty of villages too. You may want to check out Hong Lok Yuen as well - just north of Tai Po with an international school, parknshop and HEAPS of young families. With rents going down the way they have been you may be able to find something there within your budget.

Good luck with your house hunting!
