    Australian visa for helper

Has anyone taken their helper back to Australia with them for a family holiday? Can they just enter under a tourist visa?

I think you just need to be sure that she will be taking a family holiday and that she will NOT be working for you while in Australia. I vaguely remember reading something a while ago where a visa was denied because the employer wrote on the application that she would be helping with the care of children while in Australia.

Oze_kid as I will be there for a couple of weeks before my husband gets there I would need some help with my kids (I'll have two under 14 months!!) any idea if we would need to apply for a different visa or just stick to the holiday idea?

dont worry - they will tell you there what to say on application - they know perfectly well why you are taking the helper but of official reasons you need to say she is going on holidays with you. Was very easy - we took ours in dec.

Hi, I am also planning on taking my helper back to Oz with me in August. My plan was to apply for the visa beforehand to avoid the risk of running into an unreasonable immigration officer on arrival into Oz. I was going to say on the application that my helper was coming as a tourist as a reward for all of her hard work over the past year.
Whatever you do don't apply for a working visa for her as you/she would never meet the criteria.
