Hello, I'm due on the 1st August with my first and am also new to HK, we just got here a couple of months ago. It would be great to have some people to chat to about this wonderful but crazy experience.
I had my first u/s on Thursday - it was amazing, we could see the little baby, and they found a heartbeat going at 118bpm, it was really emotional. Cat I hope everything went well at your appointment. I know I was quite nervous going in to get it done, and it was a real relief to be told that everything looked just as it should. Congratulation to you both! Mary

Hi Girls,
Congrats to you both! How amazing that you have both seen a little heart beat - i'm have an appt this Friday and sooo nervous! I had a little bit of spotting over the weekend, so feeling a littler paranoid.
Would love to catch up with you both; but am leaving for Australia for Christmas on Saturday and stuck at work all week. I'm back first week of January - maybe i could join you both for a coffee (or cranberry juice:)) then?
If you could include me on your private emails that would be fantastic in the meantime - would be great to keep in touch.
[email protected]
Chat soon,
Kirstin

Actually forgot to ask; who have you both chosen to see (ob/gyn)? I've visited Lucy Lord on one occassion so far, and whilst she isn't the super warmest doctor i've ever been to, I take comfort in the knowledge she's one of the best here in HK. I would much prefer an extremely competent OB than someone all warm and fuzzy!
When you had your scans and saw heart beats how many weeks/days were you? Were they tummy or trans scans?
Thanks!

I saw Dr Derek Lo who's a fertility specialist. He's really good, but I don't think he is that interested in seeing me because I'm not one of his fertility treated patients. He has recommended that I go to Queen Marys Hospital, although he did say he'd keep me as a patient if I wanted him too. My scan was a trans one and I was 6 weeks based on LMP, but the Dr gave the baby a gestational age of 6 weeks 4days, which makes sense because I'm an early ovulator. It was the coolest thing ever - I wish I could go and get them done everyday! Seeing the heartbeat has really helped me relax about the pregnancy. Having said that I haven't felt that sick today, so now I'm worrying that my dot has gone and I'm going to have a m/c. I complain when I'm sick, I complain when I'm not sick - you really can't please some people!
I hope your spotting doesn't develop into anything more - Dr Google says that it's pretty common in the early stages so try not to worry.
Have a great time in Oz over Christmas - it'll be great to meet up in the new year, and I'll definitely add you to the pm emails.
Mary
