9 months old, is jarred pasta sauce ok?!

My son is 9 months old and I have recently started giving him pasta for lunch. IThe pasta I've made is only with melted cheese plus a bit of chicken meat/veggies. I want to make you pasta in tomato sauce but I wonder if I can simply give the jarred pasta sauce we buy in a supermarket, like those we adult eat? Can a 9-month-old baby take those kind of tomato sauce? Thanks.

I would not give my 9 month old jarred pasta sauce because of any preservatives/ additives it might have. Make your own and freeze in batches.

There are organic ones which are probably better. I always read the ingredients - I gave them to my daughter but probably not til she was over a year old... Also she likes the pasta better than the sauce so I just added a little sauce...

I think that there are even some baby foods that would be suitable for mixing with pasta, maybe try that first?

I use Annabelle Karamel recipe which is yummy. Cook butternut squash for around 9 min . Melt some butter and put a bit of onion and 2 plum tomatoes till they stew (around 2 min), add the butternut squash and some grated cheddar cheese ( I put around 30 g). Blend and pur over pasta. Probably enough for 2-3 portions.

I usually cook more and put spices in mine and have for lunch.

    Hope this helps

gotta confess, we use jarred pasta sauce all the time... i always add extras to it, but i just can't be bothered making it from scratch any more.

If you are going to give jarred pasta sauce to a 9 month old, you might want to check the amout of sodium in it as prepared food often contains a lot of sodium.

yes, that would be the one thing i would look out for.

come to think of it, i think our kids were closer to 1 year before we gave them "our" pasta sauce....
