Bringing helper to Tokyo
Hi,
I may need to be transferred to Tokyo for work for 2 years, I heard it is very difficult to bring a helper with you there. I have 2 young children and since both my husband and I will be working, it would be really hard for us not to bring our helper with us.
Has anyone successfully took a helper to Tokyo? What are the procedures?
Thanks.

Hi,
I lived in Tokyo for a few years and tried to sponsor a helper but I was not successfull, I am not sure if there is any diference in the procedure since you already have the helper working with you here, but just to sponsor a helper visa you or your husband need to:
- Be the president or owner of the company you are working for
- or, be the holder of a diplomatic passport (means you need to work for an embassy).
Hope this helps...

it has gotten alot easier these days to bring in a helper compared to 5 yrs ago. But its easier to apply for a new helper or someone already in tokyo than it is to apply to bring your current one, as poster above says, u need to fulfil one of the 2 criteria.
