    Question Summer Swimming Classes? Etc

Well, summer is here and we would like to take my son out of nursery school and get him into some sports camps.

We want to have him in swimming lessons and maybe something like soccer lessons during the week.

He's 2.5-years-old and quite physically advanced for his age, I think.

Our budget for classes is $2,200 HKD/month and we'd like him to go at least once a week.

Also, we live quite far from the city and don't want to put him through a ton of travel so were wondering if there is anything available in the area (Yuen Long, Tsuen Wan, Nam Cheong--around these parts).

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

try socatots. they have classes all over hk that are GREAT! both of my kids loved it.

swimming, he might be a little young for, but there's no reason you can't take him to the pool with some waterwings and start yourself. (that's what i did last year with my daughter...now, she's 3.5 and had her first private lesson yesterday).

we have a great private teacher that teaches my two kids swimming. she's local, so conducts most of the lesson in cantonese. she doesn't teach in a formal manner, rather, she uses toys/rewards as a way of encouraging the kids to follow her instructions and try new things.

last year, my son was terrified of putting his head under water. by the end of summer, he was swimming to the bottom of the deep pool to retrieve a toy!

she DID have time last year to go to tsing yi, but she charged more for it as she lives in po lam (TKO) and works mostly in sai kung.

if you want, i can pass you her name & number.

The Stanford Swim school is offering summer classes for $70.

Not sure if any of the locations are near you. They're not the best, but are ok.

If you do find someone who is willing to come to Yuen Long, please let me know. We're moving to Fairview Park (Yuen Long) this July and have been looking for a swimming teacher who'd be willing to make the trip as we require an English speaker.

    Cheers!

Did you find anyone to come to Kowloon West? I'd be interested, too, in a Cantonese-speaking private swim instructor (available from mid-August, ideally)...

Hello ladies, would like to seek for advise on where to look up for swimming lessons (private) in HK side for my 3 year old daughter. we don't have a swimming pool at our apartment. does anyone know if an instructor teaches at the Shangri-la hotel pool? preferably a female instructor. Thanks in advance for any leads.
