no reason why a 17 month old can't peel stickers... IF you start the peel first.

i use them a lot at playgroup. they are great for: hand-eye co-ordination* for practicing the "pincer" grip and many other things, too!

I have used them for a long time at this age group too - personal and work wise. Help them first and they should be fine! Also, scratch and sniff books can be fun and educational too.

The iPad was great on our last trip. We loaded it with books, movies, games and whatnot. Battery life was well over 10 hours, and we managed an hour or two with it.

Sleep was, of course, the best time occupier. We got them down about 7 of our 14 hour flight.

Magnets, colorforms for the windows, slinky, sock for sock puppet, small flashlight, touch and feel puzzle books, cheap stuff from Stanley market that you can hide in the air sick bags to be found (rubber duck, small scarf, foamie keycain, etc.) FYI, most airlines are not going to allow play dough or wrapped items.

How could I forget? Painter's tape. My very active daughter lasted more than 1/2 hour sticking and unsticking and it's cheap!

Painter's tape is on my list - what kind of stores have it around here? I haven't seen it but perhaps am not looking in the right place...

Have taken playdough on flights before - no problems.
