Where to buy and how to use a sling
Can anyone recommend a brand of slings, easily available and most suited for hot weather? Are there any "courses" in Hong Kong to learn how to use your sling?
I have an Ergobaby with the heart to heart insert, but I can't imagine my 2 week old baby won't overheat in the super thick padding.

I bought both my slings through LLL - I have a Maya Ring Sling and a Slingling. The leaders were very helpful in showing me how to use them. I did not use the slings until my daughter was older, so I can't comment on how comfortable they are in the warm weather with a newborn (we used a Lascal carrier with our newborn which is similar to the Bjorn, but it was November, so the weather was cooler).

no "courses"... it takes about 3 minutes to figure out how to use one...how you use one will depend on what kind of sling you buy.

The Mayawrap slings, www.mayawrap.com, come with an instructional DVD.
But I would try using the sling for a few days before watching the DVD. There are lots of instructions and it can be a bit daunting to watch the DVD before you've tried the sling. Once you have the general idea then watching the DVD will give you extra tips to make wearing the sling more comfortable. And it is then easier to take the new information in as you already have the basic idea of how to use the sling. I would be very happy to show you how to use the Mayawarp (I live in Mid-levels if you want to visit me.)
Best wishes,

I just bought a Slingling from Baby Outlet, for my almost 3 week old baby.
I found a very good video from youtube that show how to wear a new born:

Probably my baby doesn't have enough head control yet, but he will eventually sink inside the pouch. I guess it will take some practice before I can carry him in the right way....

Go with the Mayawrap from LLL and then when they get bigger, graduate to the Ergobaby to save your back and shoulders :) Also check out the Sleepywrap. You can get one from Kathy Kitzis/NEST in central on Wyndham.
