Birthday Etiquette for a sibling bday party
My son has been invited to his friend's birthday party. We just got the invitation though and it says it's his birthday and his little sister's 1st birthday who we don't know.
Do I need to get them both a gift or just my son's friend?

Personally, I would buy only for your son's friend. I don't think the host would expect you to buy for the baby sister (the guests who know the baby sister will buy for her).

we always have our kids' birthdays together (they are 2 years less 6 days apart). for us, any gift is just that, a gift. something to be thankful for...we NEVER expect anyone to bring for both. that said, many of the people invited are friends with both kids and they brought for both kids. people invited from each of my kids' classes (don't know the sibling) sometimes brought for both, sometimes only for the one they know....so, it really is up to you.
