I've been eating oatmeal nearly every single day since my daughter was born--would hate to imagine how bad it would be without eating oatmeal. :?

I'm going to crack out the fennel and see what that does for me. Thanks for the suggestion.

“Many women have described their experiences of childbirth as being associated with a

To such a woman childbirth is a monument of joy within her memory.
She turns to it in thought to seek again an ecstasy which passed too soon.”

I would consider talking to your doctor about using domperidone.

Thomas Hale PhD in his book Medications and Mothers’ Milk gives this drug a Lactation Risk of L1 = Safest.

    He says,
“It is known to produce significant increases in prolactin levels and has proven useful as a galactagogue.”

    He also says,
“Domperidone (Motilium) is a peripheral dopamine antagonist (similar to Reglan) generally used for controlling nausea and vomiting, dyspepsia and gastric reflux. It blocks peripheral dopamine receptors in the GI wall and in the CRTZ (nausea center) in the brain stem and is currently used in Canada as an antiemetic. Unlike metoclopramide (Reglan), it does not enter the brain compartment and has few CNS effects such as depression.”

I've attached a scan of the pages from the book for you.

    Best wishes,

    Sarah,

Any recommendations for doctors who know anything about this. My doc knows next to nothing about breastfeeding.

    Thanks.
