Sickness and playground
With scarlet fever outbreak and lots of flu bugs around, what do you do when you take toddler to playground or playroom and there are sick kids around? There are always some kids with cough or runny nose. I keep close eyes on my kid not to go close to a "sick" one but if that kid come over to play with the same toy, what should I do? Is it mean to ask the kid to go away? I'm also trying to teach my son to be more social so telling him " don't play with that kid cos he is sick" might be confusing ?
I Think i need to be a bit rude if thats what it takes. I'm so tired from my son getting sick all the time AND passing it to his baby brother leaving me exhausting taking care of two sick kids!

Scarlet fever today, pig flu yesterday, bird flu the day before and SARS before then. There is a new one every year and you can never know which one is being carried by which baby. Sniffling babies will always be around and even if you keep yours away from them, yours will end up touching and licking the toys everyone has handled.
In reality there is very little you can do (aside from keeping yours in a bubble), so I would suggest stop worrying and just enjoy the playtime.

I'm not too concerned about isolating my kids. I mean, if I notice that there is a VERY sick kid in a playroom, I wouldn't want my kid hugging and ****ing them, but I wouldn't avoid them entirely either.
It's normal for kids to have little colds and runny noses, coughs etc. I don't think that for those kinds of things that we need to freak out too much about it.

I think the best you can do is make sure you wash hands when you leave the playroom. I think most parents will keep kids inside when their child is sick but it's pretty hard to avoid completely.
