Your favorite toys for 1-2 year olds?
Hello Mamas,
My LO just turned one and we are headed back to Canada for the summer. Wanting to buy her a few new toys, but they should be GREAT as we will take them back with us. Would love to hear about your favorite toys for toddlers - age 1-2!
Thanks

Our boy loves cars of any sort. But it might be a boy thing. Consider getting stuffed animals like Elmo or big bird, which are hard to find in hk. Cooking set and lego are also great but you can get them in hk easily.

At that age, my son was playing with Play Doh and large Lego bricks. He never has been much for coloring or drawing. I've heard that an iPad is a great babysitter too. :)
“Many women have described their experiences of childbirth as being associated with a
spiritual uplifting, the power of which they have never previously been aware …
To such a woman childbirth is a monument of joy within her memory.
She turns to it in thought to seek again an ecstasy which passed too soon.”

1sttimemom - Sorry, but are you talking about buying toys here to take back to Canada or buying toys in Canada to bring back to HK?

My daughter likes books that have 'flaps' to reveal things underneath :) B for 'Ball' (lift up flap). She also loves those sing-a-long books where you can press a button and there is music, we have mostly the disney ones.
thanka2, we are thinking of getting the IPAD as well (waiting for the IPAD3 to come out). The Iphone has been a good babysitter when things get rough when we are outdoor. We try not to let her watch cartoon (her favourite is Toy Story), but sometimes that's the only thing that works!
I heard that Tom Hanks is the best babysitter haha. Matthew McConaughey offered him USD100 for saving him on many occasions :)

Thanks all!
@ Portia - good question. Toys to buy in Canada and bring back to HK. :)
@ Thanka2 - iPad is great :) Have one and always looking for new apps to keep her interested. Duck Duck Moose apps are great.
@ Obiwan - I have one book with flaps my LO LOVES - "Where is Elmo's blanket?" Any particular title(s) you've found your daughter likes?

My LO (18 m.o.) loves those "miniature animals" - we would let them take his mini alligator and panda with him when he visits the real "counterparts" in Ocean Park, and he waves them in front of the other visitors (to socialize and to show to the world that he "knows" those animals!).

My favorite toys...
I always try to find toys that can be hand-me-downs to my next children (I have four little ones, 8,7,4, and 1) so when i shop for toys I really look for durability...but I also want toys that are educational, something that will help them develop. I did some online shopping and found some toys and furniture that my girls love (yes, 4 girls!) If you want to try them out I highly recommend them! I think the store was called Sensory Edge...if you google them i'm sure it will pop up. The little kitchen I bought for my seven yr old is now great for my four year old and will definitely last til my baby grows up :)
Hope that helps!
