I took our daughter to our dentist when she turned two. Her teeth looked fine to me but had a little bit of staining that I was a bit concerned about. He just had a very brief look inside and said everything was fine but didn't do more than that or even charge us for her visit. According to him, bringing them too young can do more harm than good so he doesn't really DO much with them until they are 3-4 years old instead, unless there is a specific problem.

We went the first time between age 2 and 3 as recommended in the States. Here I take them to Denise Giles in the Central Building on Pedder Street. She's fab with children.

Oh he just meant by making them afraid etc... the dentist can be very daunting for someone so young and our dentist was very cautious not to traumatise her. I don't think they are going to damage the kids teeth or anything like that!!

Somebody told me that I should bring my 21 months to the dentist when I am the 'target' so they can see 'no harm done to mummy and mummy seems to enjoy it so should be fine for me too!'. Of course another carer eg dad should be with him as well while I'm having the procedures.
U think this makes sense? Am about to have a dentist's visit soon so just wonder if I should bring my boy along.
