Kittykat...for you the worry about getting #2 into school shouldn't be as great...that's assuming you want them in the same school...having a sibling will increase your #2's chance in getting into the same school, so even without pre-school it should be ok...but like workingmom1975 said schools will ask you for info on the current school your kid is attending and so its just look bad (in my opinion) to leave it blank...doesn't have to be daily school, maybe something that is only offered a couple times a week so you can fill the form in?!?

Kindergarten is over-rated in HK...that's my opinion personally. I have friends that put their kids in two schools, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, in order to "save a spot". They eat lunch in the car, so how sane is that? But its not for me to judge either. I'm sure most of us sat around till we were 4-years old and we turned out alright. Do what you feel is best for your child. What suits one family, may not suit another. If you were back in UK/US/Oz, I am certain more than half the kids aren't at Kindergarten at 2-years old. Parents end up putting their kids in "day-care" because of work, but there are tons of activities you can also attend with your child and I'm certain he/she will learn a lot more through those activities. Does anyone actually remember their days at Kindergarten..???

I didn't go to kindergarten in HK but I do remember my days there--they were great. Of course, my teacher had a pet snake in a cage in the classroom as well as taratulas and lizards and fish. She did face painting on our birthdays and we made a quilt together and dressed up in Japanese clothing and went to the vet clinic on a field trip. It was a good time. Still in contact with my kindergarten teacher as well--she messaged me this past week. Not sure if HK is quite the same. :)
“Many women have described their experiences of childbirth as being associated with a
spiritual uplifting, the power of which they have never previously been aware …
To such a woman childbirth is a monument of joy within her memory.
She turns to it in thought to seek again an ecstasy which passed too soon.”
