Confinement: red date tea
Hi, just like to see if there is anyone who can offer me some advice on this. With my first child in singapore, I started drinking this on the very first day I delivered. Concoction made of red n black dates, dried longan and dang shen.
I just went to the medical hall to buy the ingredients and they told me to start drinking only after 10-14 days post-delivery. Something mentioned about the red dates preventing the uterus from getting back in shape..
This is the first time I am hearing this and I wanted to find out from the rest of you mommies who practiced confinement, the drinks you had after popping.. Thanks!

Nowadays they say you should eat and drink more lightly the first 12 days. With c-section even longer. My mom says otherwise, but that was in her days. I also avoid certain herbs known for driving out 'wind', as I am not sure what effect it has on breastfeeding and mother milk, though some people tell me it doesn't matter.
I started right away with the fish soup and chicken feet soup. That was it.

Yeah. I heard that one should drink that kind of "warming" stuff after the bleeding stop.

I wouldn't drink red dates so early too. Not good for the bleeding I think.

Red date is ok as long as you don't over-do it. I started drinking red date, "fried rice" tea from day 1. Drink hawthorn tea to help with getting rid of bleeding. Once it's almost clear, you can add longan and dang shen to your tea.

I had it from day 1 after giving birth. We add 枸杞in the drinks too. It is absolutely fine for me and no excessive bleeding. I recon this is a very mild drink so it is ok to consumed from day 1. Just wait for after 10-14 days depends on your body condition if u r going to take those herb like ' dang gui'
