Getting into QMH but not in catchment area
Hi, hoping someone can advise me.
I am not in the catchment area for QMH but would really like to give birth there as my parents in law live close by and I was planning on staying with them for the last few weeks for the convenience (I live on Lamma).
I have just made my first appointment at Tsan Yuk, over the phone, and was told on the day to bring proof of address. I was thinking of taking in something with my father-in-laws name and address on it but I'm afraid they won't accept me, and at that time I'll be 12 weeks.
My GP gave me a referral letter and said just to give them parents-in-law address so she seems to think I'll be able to do it.
Anyone else done this before?

It's part of the HK East Cluster:
Cheshire Home, Chung Hom Kok
Pamela Youde
Ruttonjee
St John
Tang Shiu Kin
Tung Wah
Wong Chuk Hang
I've never had any experience with hospitals in HK, just thought QMH would be convenient near the end.
From looking at the descriptions am I right in thinking Pamela Youde is the only one with Obstetrics and Gynaecology departments?Last edited by calypso; 02-20-2012 at 12:22 PM.

Lamma and big emptier chunks of of Lantau fall into HKEast.
I learned something new from that page : There is a cute little hospital on Cheung Chau Island with 24h services but nothing on Lamma and Lantau...

actually, i think i've just found that it's NOT part of the east cluster but of the west cluster... how stupid is that? you have to get on a ferry then get a taxi across hk island to get to the hospital????
anyway, the hospital for the west cluster is pamela youde. i've heard mostly ok things about that hospital.
ps> you shouldn't have to spend weeks at your in-laws. it is unlikely that you will begin labour and deliver within a few hours....you should have plenty of time to make it to the hospital.

oh sorry I didn't see your 2nd post. I was just looking at the hospital authority website, at the clusters:

Am I looking at the wrong thing?
