Get in touch with an Occupational Therapist, they will give you great tips on how to balance out the issue and help your child (and you) cope in situations that could be difficult.
There is a lot of information on the internet, try not to take it all in, you will be terrified by how many different problems there can be with SPD, most of the time you will know what the issues are and be able to react accordingly. There are some great resources for coping and desensitising but a good OT will certainly point you in the right direction.

There's a great book called "The Out-of-Sync Child" which provides an excellent overview of SPD and is a terrific resource for understanding the different sensory issues.
