Husband attending labour / importance of prenatal classes
Hi there
Due to work committments, I can't attend the prenatal classes done in Queen Mary Hospital. I am going to sign up for a private course with my husband but am wondering am I likely to encounter any difficulty in husband attending labour if he doesn't go to QMH classes? I have brochures from QMH saying husband should attend their classes but not saying must.....any ideas or recent experience with this?

just ask the course provider for a letter confirming your husband's attendance at their course. you shouldn't have any problem.

Also, check with the midwife at the next antenatal appointment. I delivered in UCH (also public) and when i asked them if it was mandatory that my husband have attended classes in order to be with me at the birth they said no. But policies may differ between hospitals. If your husband is anyway attending a private class with you, though, that letter should be fine.
