Help!! 30 weeks with severe heartburn
Hi ladies,
I am in my 30th week and lately have been experiencing extreme heartburns. I stopped eating fried foods and spicy and salty foods. Sticking to more bland but even if i take a bite of anything salty by mistake i can sense the burning sensation from chest to throat in a minute and then have to drink loads and loads of ,ilk to stop it, eventually making me sick... last night, it was so horrible that i had to throw up and i also threw up blood. not like a drop or two but full loads.. it was like i ate beetroot the previous day and thats what came out.. (sorry for TMI)
I dint call any doctor..actually registered myself with public hospital and have no idea whom to call.. i tried searching for tums around mannings and watsons but couldnt find them.. milk makes me sick:(
Any suggestions ladies

Yeah, they don't sell Tums in Hong Kong. But I read that Gaviscon is safe to use during pregnancy (you can google it).
Also, you don't always need to go to a specialist. You can go to any general doctor, and he/she should be able to prescribe you something for your heartburn.

you should call A & M to see. they often have TUMS.

A&M usually carries Tums. You can also take Gaviscon for heartburn.
But, if i was vomiting blood (especially more than a very small amount) I would see a doctor asap. GI tract bleeding can have any number of causes, some of which are very serious.

If you're vomiting blood, you need to go see a doctor.
Otherwise, if it's just extreme heartburn then the best bet is TUMS. Next to that if you can't get TUMS I would drink Gripe Water (which can be found at Watsons). It's intended for babies but it has bicarbonate soda in it as well as dill oil which are both good for indigestion.
In the last 12 weeks of my pregnancy I couldn't eat anything beyond cucumbers and broth without having massive heartburn.
However, I never vomited blood. The blood part is what would have me seeking medical advice immediately.“Many women have described their experiences of childbirth as being associated with a
spiritual uplifting, the power of which they have never previously been aware …
To such a woman childbirth is a monument of joy within her memory.
She turns to it in thought to seek again an ecstasy which passed too soon.”

I was able to get Earth Mama Organic Heartburn Tea (for mamas-to-be) from bumps to babe in central. It tasted good. Helped a bit too.
But my doctor told me to just take Maalox, which was what really helped control my heartburn.

Thank you all. Went to the doctor yesterday and he told me that there could be a tear on the esophagus. gave me some mild antacids for the night and told me if the heartburn/bleeding continues i should go to the hospital. Thankfully nothing so far. I hope it was just a tear on the wall like he said and nothing serious..!
