When do i need to decide on a school for my seven month old?

Do you know the approx. waiting list times for the more popular secondary schools? I was told some of them have up to 8 year waiting lists??Such as CIS and GSIS? Do you have any info on the others...SIS,Island school,HKIS?

8 year waiting lists??!?

The CIS admissions page says this ..

Students are admitted to Reception (age 4) providing they reach the age of 4 on or before 30th June of the year for which they seek admission. The admissions process for Reception takes place in January, February and March for entry the following September. The school accepts formal applications for admission two years prior to anticipated enrollment.

This is what I got from the Chinese International School.

Dear Shriram,

Thank you for your email.

It is not necessary for one to apply for our secondary school entry several years ahead. As a matter of fact, the school accepts applications for admission to our secondary school just one year prior to anticipated enrollment. All secondary school applicants will be invited to sit for our entrance tests in the first quarter of the year they seek enrollment.

In our primary school, we do have a very long waiting list, due to our low student turnover rate. If and when a place becomes open in our primary school, only a limited number of applicants will be invited for interview.
