Cost of babysitting Xmas/NYE

Hi there,

I'm going to get a babysitter for Xmas Eve and New Years Eve (nights) - can anyone give me an idea of the going hourly rate?

Thanks!

Hi,

I think the usual casual helper rate is $60 per hour but I am not sure about babysitting. Where are you getting your babysitter from - I'm desparate for one!

Rent-A-Mum offer native English speaking babysitters, with appropriate experience on an ad hoc basis, and also for the Christmas/New Year period. The normal hourly rate is between HK$132 - HK$168 per hr, depending upon the ages and numbers of your children. From 12 midday on the 24th Dec through to 12 midday on the 27th December, and again from 12 midday 31st Dec through to 6am 2nd January, the rate is double the normal amount, per hr.

We would be happy to discuss your childcare needs in more detail on 2523 4868, or email rentamum@netvigator.com. Please do it asap for the holiday period though; sitters are being snapped up pretty fast!!!

Thanks, I was just planning on nabbing a friends helper! I normally pay about $50-$60 per hour but I thought I might be expected to pay more for Xmas or New Years ...

Hi Nuckle,
Maybe you should just book your friends helper for those dates... I bet she'll let you know if she wants more than you usually pay her. But if you're in holiday spirit and all, you could offer her a bit more than usual to make her more satisfied and feeling appreciated... also, you can enjoy your time with good conscience. 70-80 HKD/hour is really not bad... I'd offer something like that... but this is just my opinion...
