    Direct Hire Helper Without Agency?

I would like to hire our new helper directly rather than process the paperwork through an expensive agency. However, I went to the Philippine Consulate today to have her contract notarized and they told me that direct hires must go through an agency...? Has anyone had a similar experience? I would prefer to do the processing myself, but Immigration insist on having the contract notarized first.....

I would use and angency regardless. They sort everything out, visa's, flights, insurance advice, etc. I can reccommend a good one if you need it. We found our helper on our own then selected an agency to use

Agency fees for a direct hire should be very reasonable. The agency I am using for a direct hire from the Philippines charges around $3,200 which includes medical testing abroad, consulate fee, visa fee AND the airline ticket. Insurance coverage for the contract is a separate fee.

I used Emrys for a direct hire - they were recommended by my previous helper. They were ok although I had to stay on their case to make sure things moved along. I haven't heard of any agency which is perfect though. Good luck.
