    Labor Bag Preparation for QMH

Hi- I am 20 days away from my delivery and was wishing to make my labor bag and wanted help regarding a list of things to carry-any must-haves, specially for QMH?
pain killers ( nitrous oxide) to carry or do they provide,
    gowns,
    special sanitary pads to carry,
glucose or things for new born.
Any personal recommendation for delivery will be appreciated.

pain killers? i have never been to a hospital that didn't have pain killers. ;) i would say that they would be very upset if you took your own medicine as it might react badly with what they give you.

glucose for the new baby??? why in the world would you need that?

don't take your own gown. they will provide you with a beautiful, pink ensemble to wear (how they seem to know who is a patient and who is not).

after being hospitalised 13 times at QMH, i would say that the two most important things are:
    1) ear plugs
    2) blackout eye patch/cover

    other things:
    1) clothes for you to wear home
    2) clothes for baby to wear home
    3) reading material for yourself
    4) snacks/drinks for your stay (i took peanut butter and bread in case i got hungry between meals or late at night)
    5) ipod or something to watch/listen to (with headphones of course!)

And a towel - I don't think they provide towels for the shower. I agree, no need to bring painkillers or glucose. The hospital will provide all the painkillers you need, and baby doesn't need to drink anything except for breastmilk (which is best for them, or if you choose, formula). Not sure if the hospital provides formula - I think they do... but I breastfed so not 100% sure. BOTH of my kids were fed formula there against my wishes though - but both times was in NICU/SCBU rather than the regular ward...

It is VERY boring being in hospital, so something to entertain yourself is a must!!

QMH does provide formula milk. My milk didn't come for 5 days so I used some formula when baby was still hungry. The food is very local chinese so take some snacks. QMH has a list of things to take - check that. But there is a 7 11 at QMH so you can buy some stuff if you need it.

How did you deal with the "not allowed to use electrical outlets" rule? Did you just bring extra batteries or ignore the rules and sneak a charger behind the curtains?

Of all the rules, I thought that one was the really odd one considering so many patients would want to charge their phones and other minor electronic items.

    Thanks all.
Glucose was meant for me. thought it might help hydrate me when in pain..
I got a charger which holds the charge and u can charge phone, ipad for 5 hrs without electricity. Howard u can get so if needed.
I will try getting hold of QMH list from them.
