    Happy Anniversary to Us :)

About three weeks ago, my daughter turned one. That marked the one year anniversary of breastfeeding for us. It made me think back to where my initial goal was to make it to eight weeks. I am really blessed to be still breastfeeding her. I had such a terrible time with breastfeeding with my first child but this experience with my second has been really redeeming. Also, am really glad I found out that pure coconut oil is the best nipple ointment--I'm still using it especially now that my daughter has an emerging mouthful of teeth. Not sure how long I will end up breastfeeding her for but neither of us seem to be in a big hurry to quit. :)

To such a woman childbirth is a monument of joy within her memory.
She turns to it in thought to seek again an ecstasy which passed too soon.”

You've done an amazing job, particularly with working full time as well!!

My oldest was an early teether (she had 8 teeth by 7-8 months old) and I still breastfed her until 15 months (when she had 16 teeth!!) - as long as they know not to bite, teeth generally aren't an issue with breastfeeding...

Thanks, nicolejoy. Yes, it's pretty amazing considering the full-time work situation too--at times it really took all my strength and energy but thankfully I'm past pumping at work now so that's just one less thing I have to do. :)

Well...my daughter got her first teeth right around 9 months--she has bitten me a few times--especially at first but now I think she knows not to bite. However...it's not really about the biting...when she's particularly hungry (first feed of the day) she latches on she's really aggressive--so her suck is really strong and coupled with teeth it can feel uncomfortable. Then if the let-down is too much or fast for her she tends to try to clamp down to try to stop it or not get as much milk as fast and that causes the same discomfort--usually not flat-out pain like a big chomp but if I wasn't using a good cream for the nipples I wouldn't last two days because the wear and "tear" (ha ha ha) on my nipples causes a lot of chaffing and dryness--but yeah, I do have very sensitive skin so that's part of it. But, it's nothing like what I went through with my first child or earlier on with this child so I'm just waiting it out to see.
